Archipelago was founded in 2018 by tech and finance entrepreneurial veterans with previous leadership at RMS and Apple. Who you are:

Archipelago is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated VP, Finance to build our Finance and Accounting teams. We are building a team of world class talent and are looking for an organizational powerhouse who can collaborate with multiple internal teams and stakeholders. You will have a front row seat and a direct impact on the next phase of our growth. Our ideal candidate is passionate about innovation and takes initiative to assess current operations, systems, and controls, and recommend improvements. As the VP, Finance, you will lay a strong foundation for the growth of a global information platform currently serving the property and insurance markets. The VP, Finance will direct the day-to-day financial activities and accounting operational functions. You will lead all planning, forecasting, cash management, accounting, and reporting both within the company and to the Board. You will also partner with the Executive team to scale the business for growth to meet long-term financial goals.


● Architect, directing and managing all accounting and financial operational functions.

● Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.

● Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements.

● Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process.

● Collaborating with executive team on the budget process and improving the planning and budgeting process on a continual basis by educating departments and key members of corporate leadership.

● Designing and implementing accounting and internal control systems.

● Implementing software to streamline and scale processes.

● Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.

● Management and development of direct financial reporting and accounting staff, including hiring, training, and retaining skilled staff

● Providing corporate executives and the Board with financial direction and timely, accurate, and relevant management and financial information.

● Developing appropriate metrics for ESG reporting and the attraction of ESG focused capital.

● In partnership with the executive team, developing KPIs that drive and align accountability and provide appropriate coaching to the other leaders in executing on Company strategy.

● Manage activities of external auditors.

● Build and manage a long-term financial plan for the company, leading to IPO, advising the company leadership how best to achieve long term financial objectives.

● In collaboration with CEO and executive team, manage fundraising efforts and interactions with investors.


● Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company, division of a large corporation or a growth stage start-up.

● Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.

● Experience with commercial technology transactions (SaaS, data licensing, partnerships).

● Willing to roll-up your sleeves and be nimble enough to switch from tactical legal issues and drafting to corporate strategy.

● Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with both internal and external business partners.

● Proven experience handling multiple dynamic priorities without missing a beat.

● Nimble mindset combined with technical knowledge.

● Experience with global business and entities in multiple international jurisdictions.

● Familiarity with Netsuite, Quickbooks, Bill.com and Expensify a plus.

● Insurance and/or real estate experience is a plus.
