Mid-Level Construction Engineer

As a member of the interdisciplinary risk engineering team, you will work closely with a group of seasoned engineers, architects, risk and analytic experts and computer scientists. You’ll work in a collaborative environment on innovative and complex projects at the forefront of the insurance and tech industry. You will be entrusted with reviewing engineering documents for platform enrichment, assisting in developing a resilience strategy, and future domestic and international engineering site visits. You will assist the overall Archipelago team to make sure our clients extract maximum value from their investment in Archipelago, over the course of many years, supporting clients’ insurance program renewals and updates on the platform.

You need professional experience with construction plan review, engineering document review, engineering site visits, and/or general understanding of resilience or structural risk engineering. Experience with commercial insurance companies is considered a plus. In this role, you will not be expected to provide typical engineering design services, however, the knowledge gained in this position will be immense.

You will report directly to the Director of Risk Engineering, as part of Archipelago’s Risk Engineering Team. As this may be a work from home position with a flexible schedule, you will need to be an independent self-starter capable of working without constant oversight. You must be passionate about proactively providing outstanding customer service for all technical activities. You will need to be flexible and able to shift priorities in the “start-up” culture while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude. You will have to wear multiple hats and can thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment.

You may choose to work in the San Francisco or New York office (after quarantine restrictions) or as one of our remote employees that are distributed throughout the United States.
